Background: This is an alternative scenario for Bazel Village, AREA-1, not discussed in the walkthrough. Character Tom, a child, believes his sister is dead. He is very distraught, and apparently wants Hero, Brian, to take him under his wing. The whole village, Tom's home, is deserted now. Up until now, Brian and his party just want to clear out of AREA-1 and find a way to evacuate the continent to safety. But Brian is pulled between his own desires, and taking responsibility for the bad consequences in Bazel village.

Character 00 is Brian
Character 01 is Brian's good friend Ain, a warrior
Character 1E is the lad, Tom

(00000C71)
; <$8F6E00_name> たいへんだ!

(This string needs re-translation. Tom is shocked to find his village deserted. His sister is gone, possibly dead. He seems paralyzed to move forward, or else, doesn't know what to do next. I'm not sure, need clarification.)

.TEXT
<$8F6E00_name>, it's terrible!
Sis, I can't go any further.
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(Brian realizes that the extra level-pumping battles he fought gave the Empire time to detect them, resulting in a commando raid on Bazel Village in which Tom's sister and all of the other residents are missing and possibly killed - no mention of bodies, however.)

.TEXT
We fought with too much zeal...
I'm sorry..
.ENDT

(New Screen)
.TEXT

(Tom is upset that the local Liberation Army unit didn't commit forces to save the village.)

The liberation army should
have been here too.
why isn't anybody here?
.ENDT

(New Screen)
; “zらはれいa}くひaょうだ

(Brian seems to be explaining to Tom that attrocities such as this should induce villagers to take a hand in preserving themselves against outside aggressors.)

.TEXT
Those guys are cruel and
heartless.
A village like that is a good
place for a platoon of the
liberation army to recruit.
.ENDT

(00000CF9)

(Tom appears to be grieving for his sister. I suspect he is crying or on the verge of tears. He may be in shock and disbelief. He feels all alone, for his sister is older, twice as tall as he is!)

.TEXT
Siister!
.ENDT

(00000D04)
; <$8F6E00_name> たのむよ!

(This one needs clarification. Tom is pleading with Brian to do something, but I'm not sure what. Lead in a search for his sister? Lead the liberation Army? Lead Tom to safety? Not sure what, exactly, Tom wants here...)

.TEXT
<$8F6E00_name>, I beg you!
Please lead with me!
.ENDT

(New Screen)
; ......

(Brian appears to be indecisive...)

.TEXT
....
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(This one needs clarification. Tom continues to anguish over the possible fate of his sister. I'm not sure if he is ready to strike out on his own and search for her, or is asking Brian and his friends to either help or take care of him.)

.TEXT
Sis, you have to live!
I'm going searching with my
sister!
.ENDT

(New Screen)
; ...どうするんだ <$8F6E00_name>

(This one needs clarification. Ain may be concerned for Brian's state of mind, or just curious about what Brian is going to do, if anything, about the disater at Bazel Village, and how that will affect the rest of the party.)

.TEXT
...How are you doing, <$8F6E00_name>?
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(Brian takes responsibility. This one is clear.)

.TEXT
It's our fault that this all
happened...We can't just walk
away from this.
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(This one needs clarification. Is Ain asking Brian if he will help Tom find his sister, take care of Tom, or even lead the local resistance group? I don't know. Help!)

.TEXT
You're going to lead?
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(Brian appears to remain indecisive, or maybe he is nodding his decision to Ain...)

.TEXT
Ah...
.ENDT

(00000D87)

(This one is clear. Ain, speaking on behalf of Brian, is telling the kid he can come with them.)

.TEXT
Alright, kid! We'll take you with us!
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(This one is clear. Tom is relieved that he can go with Brian and his party of fighters. BTW, Tom is the custodian of the Camp tent, the one who takes care of the naming menu, switching fighting orders, and the like, so he comes along, regardless of what is being spoken in this alternative Bazel scene. Ain is the one who records the adventure - saves the game - in Camp.)

.TEXT
Really?
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(This one needs clarification. Tom seems to be acknowledging that leader Brian has many responsibilities. But what road? Who is supposed to be on a road by now?)

.TEXT
Still, he has to deal with our
miscellanea. They're supposed
to be on the road by now.
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(This one needs clarification. Tom states the obvious, that the Empire's attack on his village is a defeat. But what is useful about it? I'm missing something here!)

.TEXT
I see we're defeated!
Surely this must be useful.
.ENDT

(New Screen)

(This one needs major clarification, apparently the closing line in the scene. Brian appears to be expressing an urgency for Tom, or himself and the others to depart, but why is he chastising Tom for his apparent hesitation, if that is what is happening? A moment ago, Tom seemed to be the urgent one. After this line, the group is left standing in a deserted Bazel Village with no clear sense of purpose or function. For a while, no matter which direction Brian takes the party, Ain tells him they should be moving forward. At the Temple, I am unable to find any villagers. Once I speak to the high priest at the temple, the game pushes Brian into AREA-2, and reversal to AREA-1 seems impossible. Maybe word of Tom's sister Aris, comes later in this alternative scenario, caused by fighting too many extra battles in AREA-1. We will need to sort this out, eventually.)

.TEXT
Yeah, leave! How come you're
going so slowly, anyway?
.ENDT

Right now, a re-translation of certain strings in this scene will help tremendously.
